Where have I been?
writing, reading, book club, baking, finding a new apartment (not finding a new apartment yet), running, finishing C25K, running a 5K, training for a 4-mile run in August, watching, growing, planting, weeding, on the lake… it’s been busy.
I’ve been doing summer like I’ve always wanted to do summer. I’m the tannest I’ve been since I was a kid because I’m spending so much time out side – weeding the garden, reading, working.
I like it. I like being outside. I like being in the garden, I like dirt under my nails.
It’s been great so far.
I have also been trying to get back into writing some fiction.
I was going to submit to a competition last month… and I didn’t. I just couldn’t get around to doing a final edit after I had my boss read it.
I’ve been busy in the good sense of the word.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on here, but I’ve started a tumblr blog for all my fitness/running/health stuff.
I am by no means a super-fit or healthy person. I have a huge sweet tooth and I love peanut butter M&Ms. It happens.
If you’re into twitter and not so important ramble, check me out at jaderuns.tumblr.com. Or don’t. I’ll be OK.
Mostly it’s just to keep me accountable.
I want to make sure I’m running and doing the things I want to do.
I’m moving at the end of the month… still haven’t found a place, but I’m set on leaving where I’m currently at.
This will keep me away from the blog for a while yet still.
I just don’t consider this my priority.
After the move, my budget priorities are a new bed then a new computer… but I might have to suck it up and get a (new used) car first.
so a computer may be way in the future.
I just don’t have a lot of time to write blog posts at work.
And really, I just want to write and research for my posts at home with good coffee. 🙂
Pajamas not vital but good.
In other news Pope John Paul II is becoming (is?) a saint! wooooohooo! too awesome.
maybe this is important, I have been at my current news writing job for a year and three days today (Friday).
This is less important, I am going to buy a swimsuit and go swimming in my lake soon.
This month. There. I said it, I’m accountable for that. It should happen.
Here’s a photo.
To be honest, I edited this photo… there was a guy on a jetski in the middle.
Have a great weekend!
Make sure to check out everyone else’s posts at Conversion Diary! They actually post regularly, unlike me.
I just realized it’s a month to the day since I last posted. My apologies!
Check out what I got in the mail Monday:
The Dairy of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska and a scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
I am so blessed.
It was a pledge gift for Relevant Radio.
I was so surprised when I got it, I had totally forgotten about it.
I’ll share some of the book as I start reading it.
I wore the scapular yesterday and it was… weird.
I don’t know anything about wearing them and I don’t know if I will wear it all the time (I didn’t last night).
Anyone know any thing about them? Wear them?
I went out to my garden this afternoon and saw this among the weeds:
The grain is blown out on the bloom… but it’s beautiful.
That hay is on the next garden plot.
Here’s the rest of my garden:
It goes from milk jug (left) to milk jugs (right) and back to the grass on the far side.
I have five tomato plants:
One of which has two baby tomatoes growing in already. 🙂
There are four pepper plants:
Onions, radishes, leaf lettuce…
I was so excited when I saw those radishes peaking out. Wow.
That middle photo is leaf lettuce mixed with weeds then a row behind of radishes. I’ll probably replant radishes this summer as those come in.
And some herbs…
Like chocolate mint:
That catnip is growing outrageously. Wow it grows fast.
And look what I picked this afternoon:
A little baby onion! Wonderful.
So I bought a bottle of wine at the grocery store to celebrate.
Happy Wednesday. Here’s a fun video to make this post even longer!

Last Friday, I was in Flagstaff, AZ, on the way to the Grand Canyon. I had never been before. It was like I expected.
Because of our timeline, we didn’t schedule hiking or anything down in the actual canyon. We will next time we go.
We did some hiking at Sunset Crater National Monument.
That’s me. Wearing my sneakers with a skirt. Yeah, I rocked that.
On Thursday, when we landed, we immediately went here:
MacAlipine’s. If you’re ever in Phoenix, I highly suggest this place. The food was great, and they can make all kinds of mil shakes and cream sodas.
The only hard part about coming back was being so t ired. I just didn’t sleep that much over the vacation.
San Diego was cool, too. Good food, for sure.
Most of my vacation was delicious food.
Now I’m home and my plan is to make delicious food here. Of course!
I also found out I got a garden plot through the community garden program. 10 square feet of dirt.
Mid-May I’ll be planting tomatoes and herbs and onions and carrots and everything!
I’m really over-excited about this because I’ve wanted a garden so long, but it’s been impossible with apartments.
I was that close to that mule deer. They’re big. Big big. Like I didn’t know deer were that big.
